Wildcats Varsity Displays Power & Speed

Season (Pre-Season) Opener

Published August 20 2006

The Varsity Wildcats opened their pre-season Saturday morning against the Massaponax Panthers. The format for the controlled scrimmage was ten plays offense, ten plays defense for the first 60 minutes, followed by a 24 minute live half.

What's Next?

Come out next Thursday evening, August 24 at 7pm at William E. Trussell Stadium as the Wildcats take on the TC Williams Titans in their last scrimmage before the first regular season game.

With a great Wildcat crowd in attendance, the squad battled it out against Massaponax’s strong, powerful defense. That didn’t stop the Wildcats, however, as they took the lead early on and never gave the Panthers the ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. With great depth in the receiving corps, Centreville made two terrific plays in the corner of the end zone for two touchdowns. The other two touchdowns came from short yardage situations. On the other side of the ball, the Wildcats defense has taken on some new strength and formations with depth at both the linebacker and defensive back positions. The Cats “D” hurried the Panther QB all morning and, as such, were able to hold back all offensive drives, not allowing a Panther score.
