Freshmen meet and beat Westfield

Freshmen Win 42 to 3

Updated October 11 2006

The Wildcat Freshmen team came to play on Saturday night. After another rain out on Thursday, the Freshmen were chomping at their bits to mix it up with the Westfield Bulldogs. The Freshmen offense big lineman gave quarterback Cameron Walter's plenty of time to execute beautiful running and passing plays. Freshmen Defense line and backs, were outstanding.

Things looked a little scary at first as Westfield made a drive down the field on a Centreville fumble, but our defense stood their ground and held Westfield to a field goal. From that point on the Cat's never looked back. Cameron Walters executed a QB keeper for a TD (7-3). On the Cats kick-off, Westfield fumbled from a hard tackle by Deli Alexander and Darel Layne. Calder Street swept up the ball and ran in for a Touchdown (14-3). On the next possession, Warren Denny crashed through Westfield's line, blocked the punt and returned the fumble to the three yard line. Calder Street took it in for another TD (21-3). That was just the first Half!

Second half was just as strong with a big blow to the Westfield QB from Holland Anderson which caused a bad pass/fumble. Martin Seneca recovered it and ran it in for a 50 yard TD. (28-3). Cam Walters hit Warren Denny on a 55 yard TD Pass (35-3). Then big fullback Drew Taylor scored the final TD (42-3)

The Freshmen defense was dominating all day, recording 6 sacks and giving up only 3, 1st downs. Outstanding performances were given by DB's Ryan Ashooh, Adam Garrity, Bobby Warhurst, Jackson Islin, Terrance Kennedy and David DeLorimier. O-Line play was the key with strong play from Julian Green, Wil McKee, Lance Diamond, Martin Seneca, Daniel Johnson and Shane Mondloch.

It was an exciting game and the kids had a ball. Looks like our young cats are ready to keep out tradition alive. Great job to all!
