Oh, What a Night
Updated October 11 2006 by Karen McKee

Under the threat of heavy rain...again...the Freshmen Wildcats traveled across town to enter the Oakton Cougars Lair. Luckily the rain held out for most of the game and let our young cats pounce. Offensively the wildcats flexed it's strength putting up 49 overall points on the board. 1st quarter stand outs where: Cam Walters pass to Shane Mondolch resulting in the Wildcats first score: Calder Street on a 35 yard sweep and Deli Alexander running 25 yards for the cats second score (14-0). Second quarter: Darel Layne followed up with a 35 yard run and two point conversion (22-0). Deli Alexander ran in a 14 yard touchdown (28-6). Calder Street's 79 yard touch down run made it (34-6). Full back Drew Taylor's touchdown put the Cats at 42-6. James Byun blocked Oakton's punt and Cam Walters followed up with a 39 yard TD pass to Warren Denny finished the scoring at 49-6. That is what we mean by "Oh What a Night"!
Defensively our cats dominated and shut down Oakton's offense, time and time again. Sal Rivera led the charge with 4 tackles for losses including 2 sacks. Outstanding defensive efforts were made by Adam Garrity, Holland Anderson, Martin Seneca and Wil McKee. 4th quarter contributions by Jessica Allen, Rodrigo Oyola, Chris Murphy and Chris Kelly held the Oakton offense to only one TD.
The final tally was 49-6 Wildcats. It is clear this season that our Freshman wildcats are a team that is getting stronger each game. Please join us for our next Thursday, October 12th, as the Freshmen team takes on the Robinson Rams at home. Kick off is at 6pm
