Varsity Shuts Out Seahawks 60 - 0

Wet Feathers

Updated September 19 2005

Centreville Wildcats continue their streak with a victory over South Lakes 60 to 0. The weather was warm, sticky, and drizzly in Reston as the Wildcats and Seahawks confronted each other on the gridiron. With a score as lopsided as 60 to 0, some folks have been heard to say that Coach Skinner was just running-up the score. Not so. Varsity Wildcats simply played better football. The nine touchdowns reflect their talent, skill, hard work and dedication to crisp execution.

Escorting the ball into the end zone no less than eight times in the evening, the Wildcat offense was not dampened by the weather. Wildcats scored three times in the first quarter, two times in the second quarter, and another four times in the second-half of the game. Andrew Morgan carried the ball for a total of 146 yards and 5 Wildcat touchdowns (a new CVHS record). Drakkar Ferguson carried the ball into the end zone for another rushing touchdown for the Wildcats.

In the air Centreville was not thwarted by raindrops, as Drew Dudzik completed 12 passes with two carried into the end zone. Brandon Williams knew what to do as he carried two of Dudzik’s passes for touchdowns. The feet of Matt Spencer and Patrick Rosas kept the scoreboard busy with a total of six successful extra points.

The Wildcat defense continued their strong domination of the opposing offense. South Lakes didn't score a single point - not a touchdown, not a field goal, nuttin'. Darryl Hamilton carried a recovered Seahawk fumble across the goal line for another Centreville touchdown. The Wildcat defense has held their opponents to a total of 25 points since the start of the season. That's an average of less than 9 points per game, while the Wildcats have averaged scoring more than 59 points per game.

Wildcats couldn't help it, they just worked hard and earned each one of those 60 points.
