JV Wins Another Scrimmage

Cats Halt Hawks 12 - 0

Published September 10 2005

Hayfield hosted the second scrimmage for the Wildcat JV squad for the 2005 season. Centreville showed-up for a complete team effort, as they worked to defeat the Hawks with a final score of 12 to 0. The weather was absolutely perfect in the eastern art of Fairfax County as the first Wildcat touchdown came just after the beginning of the second quarter. A smooth Wildcat pass to their wide-open receiver was easily slipped into the end zone. Centreville's second touchdown came mid-way through the fourth quarter. Wildcats were not as successful with extra points, as each attempt fell short of the goal posts.

Hayfield was a tough opponent, actually injuring themselves flying into numerous tackles. Both teams took a knee a number of times waiting for Hawks to get their wind back and re-enter the game. It was apparent the Hayfield roster was lean, since half the Hayfield students have migrated to the new South County High School. Don't use that as a prognostication for the Varsity game, however! Hayfield Seniors did not join the migration to the south, keeping their Varsity football squad mostly intact.
