Freshmen Eliminate Eagles 69 to 6

Wildcat Freshmen started again with a bang. The underclass squad from Centreville
arrived at Edison High School and plucked the Eagles with a final score of
69 to 6. The Wildcats maintained a big zero on the Eagles' side of the scoreboard
until the last 2-seconds of the game. Centreville continued their swath of
destruction through opponents with mighty defense and quick offense.
The first half of the game was zippy. Wildcats fired-up the scoreboard quickly, and never stopped their assault. By the end of the first half Centreville saw the only action on the scoreboard, with 44 points to Edison's zero.
The second half saw more of the same. Just 51 seconds into the third quarter Mike Smith ran a recovered fumble into the end zone. The extra point was unsuccessful and the score was 50 to zero.
Edison received the kick and continued to struggle against the mighty Wildcat defense. As play continued Centreville was able to translate turnovers into touch downs. After two additional trips into the end zone, the third quarter ended with Centreville extending their lead to 63 over Edison's goose egg.
At the start of the fourth quarter it was apparent some supporters on the sideline were getting a workout. The chain gang was huffing-and-puffing back and forth to keep up with the action as the weary cheerleaders pumped their arms to count of the Wildcat score. At this point, a creative solution helped the cheerleaders survive—their front row pumped to the odd numbers, while the back row pushed-up the even numbers.
Action slowed a bit in the fourth, as it took Centreville more than 6 minutes of game time to score another touch down. That's when the Wildcats missiled a run into the end zone. The extra point didn't quite make it, but the score was still a crazy 69 to 0.
Eagles take possession of the ball from Centreville's kick, and work in desperation toward Wildcat territory. Edison is running the ball, and the clock is ticking-away the seconds. With just 20-seconds left in the game, things get silly! Eagles are lined-up on the scrimmage line as their quarterback walks up to begin calling signals. Suddenly, their quarterback starts walking toward the Edison side line with his arms up in the air, as if to say "what're we doing?" Then the center hikes the ball to another player - tricky play! And the result was confusion and a flag. The last play of the game seemed to take absolutely forever, as the Eagles ran the ball left, then right, and finally into the end zone. The clock flips to 0:00 as the game ends with another Freshmen Wildcat victory and a score of 69 to 6.
