Frosh Defeat Hayfield

Wildcats Win 42 - 7

Published September 10 2005

Freshmen Wildcats dominated the entire evening at Hayfield High School as they defeated the Hawks 42 to 7. Centreville made the long trek east to meet the Hawks for their second scrimmage, and first real-game scenario. They were well prepared. We do, however, have to mention that the Hayfield squad certainly took a hit with the loss of students that migrated to the new South County High School. Interviews with former Hayfield families indicate that the school lost, literally, half its students to the new South County Stallions. The Hayfield bench appeared sparse compared to our Wildcat squad.

By half time, Wildcats were ahead 29 to 0. The Centreville defense prevented the Hawks from a first-down through the entire first half. The Wildcats played strong and tough. During the second half of the game everyone seemed to be losing a bit of steam and focus. Some mistakes were made, but the Wildcats turned around and remedied each situation.

By the end of the game Centreville allowed only one Hayfield touchdown and extra point. Wildcats prevailed with a final score of 42 to 7.
