Wildcats Miss Playoffs by .1 of a Point
Sad Math
Published November 8 2005
Today the Washington Post published an article that articulates Centreville's playoff woes. By just one-tenth of a point, Wildcats miss participation in post-season football action for the 2005 season. This article is our recap of Washington Post and local news coverage of the playoff race, power points, and some fancy math that wraps up the season for the Wildcats. Even as Centreville moves up a notch in the Post rankings, the only chance for a post season berth is a brewing controversy over in Oakton... or Ashburn... well, someplace where, perhaps, the grass is "Green"er on the other side.
In the November 8 Washington Post, Liam Dillon's article “Lack of Power Points Leaves Centreville Out” explains how Robinson's schedule had an impact on the Wildcats playoff opportunity. Click here to read the details.
What the Heck are Power Ratings?
The Washington Post's Rich Campbell interviewed Lora Bickley, of the VHSL, in an article titled “Pop Quiz” about calculations and permutations of Virginia football power ratings and power points. Click to get the answers.
Greener in Oakton?
ConnectionNewspapers.com (the Centre View crew) cover the details surrounding the controversy about an Oakton player and his eligibility. They report the details and that a decision is expected Wednesday (November 9). Click here to read “Oakton Eligibility Decision Expected Wednesday” from BJ Koubaroulis and Greg Wyshynski.
Numbers Still Look Good
