wildcats fall to robinson 14 to 9

Cats Fight to the End

Published Nov 20 2004

Centreville Wildcats ended the 2004 season falling to the Robinson Rams in the first round of regional playoffs with a score of 14 to 9. But it was close!

Wildcats traveled to the Robinson campus on this damp, foggy evening to meet the undefeated Rams and challenge their dominance of the 2004 season. The contest was a very even match-up of talent and skill, with only a 5 point difference in the score. Centreville provided the strongest challenge Robinson has seen all season.

The game started with the Centreville defense playing strong, allowing Robinson only one first-down well into the second quarter of play. Even when the Rams began to gain momentum, the Wildcats fought hard and tough.

Centreville’s offense met with a comparable challenge. Throughout the game the Ram defense maintained a focus on Wildcat strengths. Never did the Wildcat offense wither in the face of the Robinson challenge. With just a bit more than four minutes remaining in the game, Wildcats had possession of the ball just 7 yards from the goal line. Everyone was holding their breath as Wildcats sent the ball up in the air and into the end zone, then the Rams picked-off the pass. Robinson maintained possession and control of the game, ending the contest with a score of 14 to 9
