Wildcats breathe new life into their playoff prognosis with a cool and crisp
victory over the Herndon Hornets, 27 to 20. The Washington
Post quotes Herndon’s
Coach Meier saying, “They just out-athleted us.”
The first half was dominated by Centreville, with Drew Dudzik throwing two touchdown passes, one to Cam Dohse and the second to Robbie Humphreys. The first half ended with a score of 13 to 7.
Just like last week, Wildcats provided plenty of drama for the night. The Hornets took control at the beginning of the second half. Soon after the start of the fourth quarter, Herndon was in command of the game with a score of 20 to 13. But we know better than to write-off Wildcat stamina this late in a game, and this late in the season.
The sky was clear, providing the perfect setting for the Centreville air attack on the Hornets. Wildcats answered the Herndon touchdowns with a glorious Dudzik pass to to Dohse, who took it for a 75-yard run to the end zone. The Hornet’s offense was shut-down by the Centreville defense, which allowed the Wildcat offense to re-enter the game and work that drama. Again, Dudzik and Dohse controlled the air space above Herndon with another touchdown pass to end the game with a final score of 27 to 20.
The skill and drama of the Wildcats keeps their playoff opportunities open. Wildcats must keep-up the momentum as Centreville hosts Chantilly on November 12th for their last regular-season game.
