JV falls to oakton, but just a foot short: 20-22

The JV played the Oakton Cougars on Saturday night and, in a hard fought game, came up just 2 points short. The game opened up the way all of the JV games have with the Wildcats being on defense and stopping them cold. After a bad snap the O got the ball on the Oakton 20 yard line and, 3 plays later, the score was 7-0 Centreville. Oakton came right back and knotted the score at 7-7 by the end of the first quarter. Oakton took the lead midway through the second and got a 2 point conversion. This was the difference in the game. We got the ball back, ran it down the field, and scored with a around 16 seconds left in the half. We went for 2 and came up a foot short.

In the second half the game went back and forth. Oakton scored to take a 22 to 13 lead and we came back mid way through the fourth to score to make it 20-22. We did an on-side kick and recovered it but were unable to move the ball inside the Oakton 28 yard line.

The kids played hard and fought to the end, we just came up a foot short.
